I’ve been working on a list of about 10 custom portraits for GoodAfternoonan, which has been really great and challenged me to organize my free time more efficiently. Having so many custom drawings to make has been one of many excuses for my non-blogging.
In the past, my apartment, thrifting for furniture, and interior decorating monopolized my free mind and free time. Currently my shop and the pet portraits are occupying that space. I’m also ruminating on a hand bound book edition that I really want to dedicate some time to; however, having a beautiful and thoughtful blog has been on my to do list for a long time. Blogging does not come naturally to me, but I enjoy putting myself out there and I really enjoy writing, although you wouldn’t know it from the current state of the blog. Writing, however, true thoughtful writing, takes a lot of time and energy for me. This is part of why I want to blog. I want to recapture the hard work of thoughtful writing that I can be proud of. I plan to get there this year.
In the meantime, I’ve decided I’m going to take part in August Break here on the blog. I know this seems like a contradiction since you can’t take a break from writing on a blog that has been mostly dormant. I’m going to use August Break, which requires a daily photo post, to develop the habit of getting on here and putting something out into the world EVERY single day.
Here are the daily themes.
I’m excited to take part in this. I’m hoping to use my camera more, and not just my phone. I’m excited to set aside some daily blogging time in the evenings as an addition to my daily doodling and drawing time. Perhaps I’ll even write more eloquently sometime soon. Happy Almost August.
